RSS Means...

Really Simple Syndication.  Believe it or not, that's what RSS stands for and XML stands for extensible mark-up language.  All you need to do is click on the little orange button with the letters XML   , or RSS , ( Sorry, not just yet.)

OK.  There is a little more to it than that.  RSS is the best way for you stay current with information at your favorite websites.  No reason to bookmark websites and pages anymore.  Can you really remember all the sites you bookmarked and why.  Do you actually remember to go back to those websites to check out the new product lines, get updates, or check for new (hopefully lower) prices?  I tried to keep up with all the information to wade through but I would forget.

You may have gotten yourself on someone's email list only to receive updates about everything except what you're interest in.   Everything and the kitchen sink.  Worse, they may have sold your name to a inter-galactic company and now you receive email from aliens in the Andromeda galaxy.

No More...

having to fill out those pesky invitations to subscribe to newsletters you don't want or being asked for your email address.    With RSS you pick the news (feeds) you want and only when you want it.  A aggregator gathers your feeds and puts it in a readable format.  That's all there is to it.  When you want to shut the feed off you just delete the feed from your reader (aggregator).  No more clicking on the unsubscribe link.

Get Your Own

There are so many choices out there you could go dizzy trying to decide.  I know, I did!  The bottom line is that RSS feeds and readers are like ice cream makers and flavors.  It just depends on what you like.    Keep it simple to start with.  I suggest Yahoo!  You can go to Yahoo! home page and click the link at the top left that says, "Personalize".  On your, "My Yahoo!" page, scroll to the bottom, click the, "RSS Headlines", link and simply follow the instructions to select the sites you want to receive feeds from.  Unless your website provides RSS feeds you won't be able to take advantage of Really Simple Syndication at their site.  So, just ask them to get with the program.

Get RSS!

I wouldn't think about making you go through all the challenges I went through.  So, click this link:

TECHNOExplorers RSS reader

You will have a TECHNO Explorers RSS reader with feeds from this site.  You can also use it to select feeds from other sites and navigate to other websites using the built-in url.  The best part is that an icon will be installed right on your desk top so your news will be only a click away.

More RSS!

"...The theme-based, project style curriculum of ( TECHNO Explorers ) is in-line with our school's philosophy and curriculum.  After looking at the sample lesson plans, I thought that this would be great at our school. Not only do the lessons fit in with our philosophy, but the software used is what we already have at our school."
