I am Passionate…
I am Dr.
Robert Thrash III, distributor of TechnoKids project-based
computer lessons which teaches technology integration using
Microsoft Office for kids in grades K-12. But, I am much
more than that. I am an educator like you. I have
taught in both private and public schools and have been an
administrator in private schools. I have more than twenty
years teaching experience.
What about Passion…
I am really
passionate about teaching kids how to use computers and
Microsoft Office competently with assurance.
I can’t believe that
many educators still feel that all they need to do is
have a well furnished computer lab and
give their students
keyboarding software. If you fall into this
category your attitude is all wrong. You need to check out
this paper written by one of TechnoKids chief curriculum
writer's, Christa Love, entitled,
The Impact of Teacher Attitudes on Computer Education.
There’s a Lot More to Do Than Keyboarding…
Computers
are everywhere and those who master their use will excel.
You already have the hardware. Why don’t you have the
project-based curriculum you need to provide your students
cutting edge computer lessons?
You need computer lessons written by experts and tested by kids
in the classroom. I am not talking about some two
or three page elementary lessons filled with a lot of cute
graphics and cartoon characters. I am talking about real
life lessons that can be incorporated into the classroom
learning experience.
You’re Failing…
Your students if you are
not providing them project-based lessons that teaches
integration of technology. The projects I provide don’t
just teach single applications such as Word, Excel, and Access
and so on. These projects combine two and three Office
products in a project. The end result is that the kids see
how they work together – technology integration.

"This
curriculum is just wonderful. It explains everything
clearly and succinctly."
Barbara
Cyrynowski, Principal, Waskatenau School |
|
"I just
thought that I'd let you know how things are going here
at Waskatenau School since we received our TechnoKids
(Computer) Curriculum. We LOVE it!!! This sentiment is
shared by both the students and staff in our school.
I teach Grade 7 & 8 and usually they are more advanced
than I am when it comes to computer skills. I used to
feel uncomfortable when our technology classes came
around, but I don't feel that way anymore.
This curriculum is just wonderful. It explains
everything clearly and succinctly. Students know what is
expected of them and what they will be learning - and
they do learn! Our Grade 1 & 2 teacher cannot praise
TechnoKids enough. She is not at all comfortable working
on or with computers and TechnoKids has been a
much-needed lifeline for her. Her enthusiasm about the
program is quite contagious. She has had parents
inquiring where they can purchase the program. You
should see how proud those little people are of all
their accomplishments.
At our February administrators' meeting I introduced
TechnoKids to principals from 14 schools and our two
superintendents. Many of the administrators were very
interested in what TechnoKids has to offer;...
Thank-you so much for this wonderful program. I also
would like to commend your staff (and you) for treating
us with such efficiency, respect and kindness. It's not
every day that we have a chance to experience this way
of doing business!" |

You Are Missing It!
I may have
recently sent you an email congratulating schools who are
renewing with TechnoExplorers or new schools just coming aboard.
Well guess what? Another school just came aboard and
others are seeking approval form their principals and boards so
they can introduce their kids to these awesome project-based
computer lessons that teach Microsoft Office technology
Integration.
I just
would not be able to sleep knowing I had not tried to get you to
see what you are missing.
No Loud Enough or Right Enough!
Years ago
when I worked in management for the local phone company I was in
a staff meeting and shared what I thought was a brilliant idea.
It fell flat. No one even noticed what I said. The
very next month at our next staff meeting one of my peers gave
the same idea and it was accepted with enthusiasm. I was
shocked and told the boss that I had offered the same suggestion
a month earlier. Guess what her response was?
“You didn’t
say it loud enough or right enough!”
So, here I
am again. I am
trying to say it louder and righter. (I know righter is
not a word but it rhymes with louder)
You are
doing yourself and your kids a disservice if you are not using
TechnoKids computer curriculum. There! I said it!
If you have
a computer lab and have been writing your own curriculum, buying
off the shelf software trying to piece something together, or
are the only one who knows what is going on in the lab and can’t
be sick or take a day off, you are doing yourself and your
students a disservice.
If you think all you
need to do is teach keyboarding and Word you are doing your kids
a disservice. There is a whole world out there and
TechnoKids has written and tested more than 70, that's right, 70
projects for kids in grades Kindergarten through 12.
